Late Start, Another False Rumor, Congrats USA Women, Sick Man, Not Real News, $15 Wage

Hey there all, I hope you had a great weekend and your Monday is going great!  My day is going good, even though I got a later start on my day cause I didn't wake up until about 9:15 this morning which is late for me.  This morning around 6 I set my alarm to wake up a little after 8:30 but I messed up since I had it set to go off on Sunday at 8:30.  That's what I get for trying to do that stuff while mostly asleep.  I did make it to the gym and had a good hard workout and I have figured it out that I will do at least 5 minutes on the cyclometer every day.  It will go by much faster if I remember to bring my headphones so that way I can listen to a book or something.  I just found out that I can use my Alexa to read a book from my Kindle but I am having some trouble with my Alexa lately, it keeps saying that it is having trouble connecting to the internet.  That is weird since all my other devices work on the internet.  Oh well, first world problems.  Let me go on and get to it!

Star Wars Day!  Another good source for Star Wars news is a site that is listed on Fansided called Dork Side of the Force.  I look at the stuff on there from time to time and they usually get it right, nobody gets it right all the time.  Especially when dealing with rumors for Star Wars, since fans can get on a computer or anything connected to the internet to leave a comment somewhere that could blow up and become a rumor for an upcoming project for Star Wars.  Now there have been times when some fan will leave a comment somewhere and they don't mean for it to be a rumor of any kind but others take it as a rumor and run with it.  Sometimes people get too worked up over little things that don't really mean that much.  Here is a rumor that came from another site called We Got This Covered and to be fair it isn't their rumor as it came to them from a "source".  Now this happens a lot where a "source" will play you with wrong info, that has happened a lot of times.  I think that is the case with this rumor.  It says that Mara Jade will be played by Emily Blunt.  For those that do not know, Mara Jade was Luke's love interest in the non-canon stories and he had a kid or two with her.  This is probably wrong for a few different reasons and I will give you what I think.  First off, Mara Jade is not canon, I know that Lucasfilm could and have brought in characters from the Expanded Universe before but I have not heard of any project that would likely include her in the story.  Second, Lucasfilm have been keen on getting actors to play bigger parts in their movies that are more unknown actors.  Think about it, Mark Hamill wasn't real big when the first Star Wars came out, before Episode VII not many people had heard of Daisy Ridley before.  George Lucas was very against casting Harrison Ford because he had already done one movie with him, American Graffiti and thought that too many people would recognize him.  It happens to me, I was watching the trailer for a new movie called The Current War, which looks really good, and Tom Holland is in it and all I could think of when I seen him was "That's Spider-Man".  But anyway, here is that article; https://dorksideoftheforce.com/2019/07/04/star-wars-rumor-mara-jade-celeb/

So, the American women won the World Cup!  Congrats to them, just wanted to give a shout out to them.  They did a great job and have now for quite a few years.  Back to back winners, it's wonderful!  Just quite crying about not getting paid as much as the men until you can bring in more money.

Probably not a lot of you know this guy, Jeffrey Epstein, as he isn't a big celebrity or anything but he is all over the news right now.  He is being charged with paying girls as young as 14 for sex and performing sexual acts on his friends.  I did not read the all the paperwork for what he is being charged with but it is pretty serious.  I have only heard of the guy in passing when talking about someone else.  I remember hearing rumblings about him years ago with Bill Clinton and if I remember that story talked about some of the same things that this accusation is about.  Apparently the Feds and local police have been building a case against this guy for a very long time.  This is a man who I think should not be given the gift of a bail because money is not an object for him, no matter how high it is.  Plus he owns jets and can go anywhere in the world, maybe to a country that would not send him back to face justice.  I just hope his money doesn't play a role in any of it.  Now this is some stuff I overheard on the radio but he has some powerful friends such as Bill Clinton who I am sure hopes he does not get caught up in this.  Guess we will have to keep our ears open for this, here is an article on this; https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/08/us/jeffrey-epstein-monday-court-appearance/index.html

Not sure why this is news but a democrat is stepping out of the race for president, because he figured there was no way for him to become the candidate.  The highest he would poll was maybe 1 percent, which is nothing and he knew that he couldn't win so he is stepping aside.  He never gained any traction with voters so it's hard to get your message out that way.  The person I'm talking about is Eric Swalwell and it isn't totally his fault since I don't think anyone can actually beat President Trump in 2020.  So here is an article on this; https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/08/politics/eric-swalwell-ends-campaign/index.html

Here is something I want to talk a little about because I think it would not work very well.  $15 minimum wage is a pipedream, much like communism or socialism.  Yeah, it sounds good but the costs of doing this would be anywhere from 1.3 to 3.7 million jobs lost.  When I was working for the bank as a tech customer support I was making $12 an hour, what would happen if the minimum was raised up to $15, people would leave that good job at the bank to go work for McDonalds or Burger King to make $3 more an hour.  There would be an exodus to minimum jobs away from jobs like the bank where they like you to have some sort of college degree.  Another thing it would do is make people lazy and not want to learn or work for better jobs when they can just work fast food and make money.  McDonalds is not supposed to be an end all job but a job to help you get to a better job, now there are some that have worked their way up in places like McDonalds but not the vast majority that have worked there.  Plus I am against the government telling businesses how much to pay empolyees, I think the government should stay out of that.  That is the libertarian in me.  Anyway, here is an article on this, let me know what you think; https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEKrFZJvE4ySSidlpIYVnPQoqFggEKg4IACoGCAow9vBNMK3UCDCvpUk?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

Well, that's it for me tonight.  I really hope that all of you have a great night or day, take care!
