Short Intro, Different Ruler, It's a Big Problem, Big Mistake

Hey there all, I hope the end of your week is going great!  My day was good, had a good workout today but didn't do much else really.  Searched online for jobs here in Columbia and applied to a few on Indeed but of course haven't heard anything back.   Hope to find something by the time of my birthday next week.  I'm going to look online a lot this weekend for a job.  I'm not really looking forward to watching the MU Tigers play tomorrow because they haven't been playing very well this year.  So sad because I had a lot of promise for this year, oh well.  So, I'm pretty tired so I want to go on and get to it!

Alternate History Day!  The alternate history scenario today deals with the USSR and what if Trotsky became the leader of the Soviet Union instead of Stalin?  How would things have been different.  A lot of things would have been different because of they way that these two guys thought.  Stalin had this Revolution in one Country while Trotsky thought the communist revolution should be spread to every country across the world.  Basically Trotsky was the first person to think of a one world order, or a New World Order.  So that goes back farther than we think but he never got to try and push socialism in every country.  Lenin actually wanted Trotsky to take over instead of Stalin but he was too sick at the time to make his demands known.  Trotsky probably wouldn't have been as ruthless as Stalin and not killed as many people even though he was still ruthless, just not as much as Stalin.  The big thing would be if Trotsky would have been as effective during WWII against Hitler as Stalin was and I don't think he would have been.  Stalin put the fear of God into his generals and during the Siege of Stalingrad he gave order 227 where he said that no Soviet give up an inch unless they are dead and they all wanted to please Stalin because they knew that if they didn't they would be killed or worse be sent to the gulag.  Here is a very good video from AlternateHistoryHub and he gives a good scenario; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTHnTh6bNwc

Another city that you couldn't pay me to go to is Los Angles, most things I have seen about or read about the city are it's just a run down place, like San Francisco.  I would group pretty much all of california in that you couldn't get me to go there, I'd have to be paid pretty well to venture out there.  Recently the former mayor of that city came out to talk about homelessness and the reason for it and maybe a few things we can do to fix it.  I am surprised because most leftists would have come out saying it's all President Trumps fault but he didn't say anything about Trump, so good for him.  He talked about how their just isn't enough affordable housing or good enough services to help the mentally challenged.  Those are actually good points.  Housing in this country has gotten so bad all over, not just in select cities or counties.  Columbia, a city with a population of about 120,000 has an issue with affordable housing.  There are a good number of homeless people here, the latest numbers I have seen for homeless people in Boone County is 265, I thought that number would have been higher.  One thing that has helped here is the new veteran home they put in on Business Loop 70.  I am not sure how many rooms exactly but I think it is a great thing and it looks like a really nice place, just wish it was in a better part of town.  A lot of homeless people are veterans and I am glad they built that place a few years ago.  Now that mental health issues are being treated with more care I think that will only help out this homeless problem we have now and maybe if the cities can work on getting rent prices under control we can do much more.  I don't think rent control is the answer to that but just some good common sense fixes will help.  One problem is that we have our national Congress working on a stupid plan of action right now and nothing is getting done.  If you want to voice your opinion that Congress needs to get back to work for the American people than you need to contact your representative and tell them.  Write a letter or call but do something.  Here is that article that started this; https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/former-los-angeles-mayor-knows-200103042.html

It is so easy to make a mistake in life and we all do but we try our best to stay away from the big mistakes, like falsely injecting someone with insulin instead of a flu shot.  That is what happened to 10 people in Oklahoma at a long term care facility.  At least they think it was insulin but could have been something else, I guess it could have been almost anything and I guess the testing will take a few days.  This must have been a sight when the first responders got to the location and seen 10 people just laying about and not able to say what was wrong.  Also, this was a place for disabled people so that makes it pretty tough to begin with.  Hopefully everyone comes out of this on the right side.  Here is an article on this; https://people.com/health/10-people-hospitalized-mistakenly-injected-insulin-instead-of-flu-shot/

Well, that's all for me tonight.  I'm pretty tired and hope to get some sleep over the weekend.  I really do hope that all of you have a great weekend and come back on Monday, take care!
